sugar Land swim school is a community based swim Lesson program offering THE HIGHEST QUALITY swim lessons for children and adults at your COMMUNITY pool.
 

Catherine Tanzillo founded Sugar Land Swim School (SLSS) in 2011. Since teaching her first private swim lesson in the summer of 2000 at New Territory Ellis Creek Pool, Catherine has developed a passion for teaching both children and adults how to swim and how to continue improving their swimming abilities. SLSS was born from Catherine’s passion for swimming and desire to reach more children and adults.

Every summer, SLSS provides swim lessons to over 200 children and adults of all swimming abilities. SLSS provides part-time employment to high school, college, and graduate students who possess a swimming background and an enthusiasm for teaching swimming.  

SLSS offers a program that provides swimmers the opportunity to progress through 7 swim levels from learn to swim through stroke development. Explore the class levels by clicking here.

Educational Background

  • Grew up in New Territory in Sugar Land, Texas

  • Attended Walker Station Elementary School, Macario Garcia Middle School, and Stephen F. Austin High School

  • 2005: Graduated Top 1% from Stephen F. Austin High School

  • 2009: Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance

  • 2012: Graduated from the University of Houston Law Center & passed the Texas Bar Exam

  • 2012 - Present: Practices law in Houston, Texas


    Swimming Background

  • 1990: Learned how to swim at the YMCA

  • 1994 - 2006: Swam for the New Territory Torpedoes through the age of 13 and then swam for the New Territory Tarpons through the age of 18

  • 2001: Swam one summer of long course for First Colony Swim Team between middle school and high school

  • 2001 - 2004: Swam for the Varsity Swim Team at Stephen F. Austin High School

  • 2003: Fort Bend ISD District Champion in the 100 Breaststroke

  • 2005 - 2007: Assistant Coach for the New Territory Tarpons

  • 2000 - 2010: Taught private swim lessons in New Territory and surrounding neighborhoods and backyard pools

  • 2011 - Present: Owns and operates Sugar Land Swim School
